We all wish Jagex well and wish RuneScape an enjoyable future, the Sal's Community has asked themselves: Can we be supportive of Jagex in their recent decision to introduce microtransactions which just a few years ago would have thought was unethical? The answer is "No". Even as expensive as it would be to purchase enough spins to raise a skill to level 99, there is no doubt that the possibility exists for a Jagex-sponsored RWT extravagant event.
Sal's Realm of RuneScape was born from the love for one game. It has since then developed into a community of people from all walks of life. We are proud to have a Platinum fansite rating. This demonstrates our commitment to this game, to Jagex's strict standards and the community of players. We feel so passionate about this game that Jagex ought to reconsider their choice. It is important to remember that this game's spirit is what draws people in.
Jagex pushes Jagex' Squeal Wheel so that it is adamantly displaying the possibility of paying real-world currency to buy more spins. This is such a far cry from the original stances supposedly held by this company that it's a bit gruelling.
Jagex's lack of concern for security of players and the ease with which players to purchase spins using their credit card details, exposes less-aware customers to financial risk if their account password gets stolen. Furthermore, Jagex's and their apparent intention to profit from their players, especially younger ones, in what is essentially a form of gambling is deeply alarming to those who have played a much more "players-first" RuneScape that has gradually diminished as time has progressed.
Sal may lose its Platinum-level rating due to these comments. We're committed to serving our community and feel secure in the knowledge that these views are true to the spirit of the site that could be the driving force behind it for many years. This is a matter of conscience. Jagex is not able to back this decision.
